Las Caletas Lodge is situated in Southern Pacific Costa Rica on the Osa Peninsula, part of Costa Rica’s Puntarenas province. It is nestled between Drake Bay and the Corcovado National Park in an area known as “Las Caletas” (small coves). You will find Caño Island Biological Reserve only 12 nautical miles off the coast.This area is considered as one of the most remote places in the country and can accessed only by boat. Its remoteness makes this area so special and attract many tourists who want to escape away from the daily harsh busy life and want to enjoy an unforgettable nature experience combined with a family atmosphere. Lacking the hustle and bustle of the civilized life, this place is one of the premier nature destinations in Costa Rica.

Accommodations:

Honeymoon Suite:

superior-honeymoonsuiteIf you want to stay at this all-inclusive hotel for enjoying memorable honeymoon, they will find this suite absolutely perfect. This completely private and secluded suite is a two-story bungalow. It features a bedroom upstairs and a lounging area and in downstairs there is a private tiled bathroom. This suite include one double and one single bed, orthopedic mattresses, ceiling fan and overlooks amazing forest,garden and ocean views.

Duplex Rooms:

There are two two-story ‘Duplex’ rooms that are nestled in the same building but with separate entries and also feature a divided balcony. In each unit you will find one bedroom-one is on upstairs and another one is on downstairs (divided by the stairs. The upstairs bedroom features one single bed and the downstairs room include two single beds. Both bedrooms overlook amazing garden and ocean views and featured with orthopedic mattresses, ceiling fans and a private tiled bathroom.  If you want to enjoy a family getaway or want to stay at this hotel with a group of friends, you will find these Duplex rooms perfect. You can also book these rooms in double or triple occupancy.

Room ‘Rana’:

It is a private single-story bungalow. This bungalow is featured with one double and one single bed, orthopedic mattresses, fan and private tiled bathroom. There is also balcony and seating area where you can spend some relaxed time. This room overlooks amazing view of garden and rainforest.

Room ‘Iguana’:

Adjacent to the main building, it is a single-story room. This room overlooks stunning view of the rainforest and ocean. It features a balcony with hammock, one single and one double bed, orthopedic mattresses, ceiling fan and also a private tiled bathroom.

Tent Cabins:

Las Caletas Lodge also provides three private ‘tent cabins’ that are nestled on an elevated platform and feature a spacious front porch with a couple of armchairs. In each of the tent you will find one full-size bed (one tent has an additional twin-bed), orthopedic mattresses and fans. These tents overlook amazing views of the ocean and garden. These tents have two shared bathrooms and showers that are clean and set close to the tents.

Eating in Paradise:

This all-inclusive lodge offers three nutritious and delicious meals each day. It prepare the dishes with a fusion of Costa-Rican and European cooking techniques. Its open-air dining room is the heart of the lodge property and it overlooks amazing forest and ocean view. You will find the dining room ideal for sharing your day’s adventures with other travelers from around the world. There you will enjoy delicious and nutritious health-conscious meals including fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and poultry, freshly baked bread and delicious homemade desserts.

You will enjoy buffet breakfast that includes cereals, toast, fresh fruit, eggs, cheese and typical “gallo pinto”. In your lunch you will get  light and fresh menus and it may include burritos, empanadas, spaghettis or fried rice. During dinner time you will start with a delicious soup or salad and then main course and a dessert. Special diet and vegetarian dishes are also available.

Tours and Activities:

Bird-watching:

In this region, the most abundant bird population of the country has been found. Birdwatchers can go for this early morning tour that takes place on the Las Caletas grounds and the surrounding area and lasts for 2 hours.

Dolphin and Whale watching Tour:

This tour will last for 4 to 5 hours and will head towards Caño Island but may change direction if sightings occur elsewhere. If you visit this place from December through March and August through November, you might see Humpback whales. You can see the dolphins all year round. During this tour, you will be guided by an experienced and knowledgeable local guide and the tour is operated according to best practices and international regulations for the safety and respect of the animals. Due to protective laws, you will not get permission for swimming and snorkeling at the time of this tour.

Horseback Riding:

horseback ridingIf you want to explore the natural beauty of the area, you can go for a horseback ride through the the jungle-lined trails of Drake Bay. The tour duration is 3 to 4 hours. This guided tour will take you along the beach trails to “Rio Claro”, an inviting fresh water lagoon where you can enjoy swimming and make yourself cool off. You can also enjoy a guided canoe tour deeper inside the river and the rainforest. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced rider, you will bu guided by local guides.

Canopy Tour:

You will enjoy this tour in the North-Western boarder of the Corcovado National Park, in a little village called Los Planes. This tour is lasts for 3 to 4 hours. During this tour you will get opportunity to explore the beauty of the Central America’s largest primary rainforest from the tree tops! You will experience a thrilling adventure while flying through the rainforest on 11 different cables ranging from 190 – 400 meters in length. During this tour you will be guided by experienced and certified canopy-guides.
